  4. I have to tell the truth. I'm like that. I'd gladly settle for some sort of "weak sister wanabbee" any day of the week. I've been a car guy for many years, and would be happy as a clam with any '55 Chevy Tudor Post that resembles a "form of" '55 Chevy Gasser that I could drive everyday on the street. Am I a poser? Not at all...Just a man who loves cars and am secure in my manhood and have no need to compare ....I love hard charging True Gassers and Street cars that mimic them for the average guy who loves them some Street Vibe.....I also despise arrogance....There's room for all of us who love cars.......on top of all that, I don't care what anybody else thinks...............Centurion9

My 55 that baron just posted would fall into the "weak sister" category...i'm ok with that. It's a blast to beat on for sure!

  6. Yeah, I'll take the weak sister wanna be anyday. I know that I'm going to run mine in the 1/4. I just don't know what it would do. It'll be fun and that's all that matters. So, CRUISE ON WANNA BE'S, and I'll be there with ya.....

This is one I am working on for a friend, he bought it as a complete car minus engine and trans in late January. It came with an extra frame, he moved the rear springs inside the frame rails, it will have stock tubs. I built the front stub, we hung the rearend with some spring "floaters" and ladder bars. After mounting the engine and trans with motor plates and getting it on wheels and the body swapped, I am fitting the cage, driveline loop, seat and harness mounts. We are toying with the Buick chrome, we will know more after the wheel openings are cut. It will have a tilt, glass nose, with stock grille and headlights. For now it will be "race only", with the mechanical injection and the electric water pump, with the option of street use later on. His cars are always finished beautifully (he won the AMBR trophy twice). We should have some fun with this one.

  14. Hey Marty, car is lookin' good. Should look even better once you RADIUS the rear wheel wells. Love to see more once you CUT the rr wheel wells. It always makes me happy when people CUT perfectly straight rr wheel wells.

  15. Well said my man.

These are some chassis shots of the car in post #792, do you think this forum could handle another build thread of a 55 Gasser? This car is moving along pretty fast and we have plenty of pics. Please take note of the "Bird Cage" rear spring floaters the owner (Lonnie Gilbertson) machined up.

What engine/trans? Looks like a TH400 in the pics? What wheel and tire combo? What ET/MPH do you expect to run?

I think he will be using a 10.5 tire, the engine he is building is around 360". He has a "high end" rotating assembly, going to turn it over 7,000 rpm. A good set of heads, Vertex mag, 2.1/16 injector on alcohol. My guess is it will weigh around 3400. He wants to run in the 10's, at over 120. I think that is plenty doable, we will find out.

Set the camera on a tripod, take one picture with the hood open, and a second picture closed. Combine the two on Photoshop, making one opaque, and that is the result. Very cool.

Meatball, Lonnie has a good painter close to the shop. It will be candy "Pagan Gold" with red tinted windows and Mitch Kim will do the lettering and stripes. We got the radiator and front shocks mounted.
