Hey guys. I just bought a CPP dropped axle (3") for my '55 Chevy Truck. I have read several threads and have seen some of you guys running them, but no mention of the steering arms. Do I need to get a dropped steering arm? Or will the stock one be ok and not cause bump steer?

Any experience or concerns would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

you will need to heat and bend the stock arm so your drag link is close to level.... you may also have to relocate the tie rod to the bottom of the steering arms (i did) or it will hit the springs... once i got everything installed a few other tweaks were necessary to deal w/ clearance issues... most of it is covered in the following article-

Heard about people having the stock arm shortened also. Sounds like a more reliable way to do it, but I don't know all of the ups and downs of the two schools of thought on that one. I'm still undecided on how mine's getting dropped, whether it be an axle & springs or IFS. Got a VERY attractive deal on a '78 Diplomat front end last week.
