1952-59 Ford 1955 Clock Conversion ?

Not sure if this topic has been covered before. (I could not find a reference to it.)
Has anyone had experience converting the electric dash clock in a 1955 to a battery operated digital ?

Electric and windup clocks were available in the '55 Ford, just find a windup and be done.

 

Or send a non operational electric wind to D&M Restoration and have them install a quartz movement.

 

How do you make an ****og clock (dial/hands) "digital" (number readout)? I think you mean a quartz-movement conversion.

 

If you want the original face with a good movement, then go quartz conversion. I had Williamson's in Arkansas do a 54 and and a 56 clock and they did a great job. The 54 clock was done about 8 years ago and it still runs great.

There was a guy parting out a '55 in the cl***ifieds here on the HAMB.

 

On second thought, I may be jumping the gun on this. Not 100% sure the clock even needs replacing. Once weather gets a little warmer, I may pull it out and test it. Might just need some tweaking. (Watched a couple of videos talking about cleaning and maintenance of these.) Thanks, Mato

 

You will need to reduce the voltage to the clock if your car has been converted to 12 volt.

 

Still a "sixer".

 

I have been running my 6 volt Merc clock on 12 volts for a few years now with no issues and it still keeps
perfect time.
