Inside isnt that great, but just a matter of seat and carpet. Truck interiors are easy!

Put some new power cables on and cleaned terminals, she started right up. Carb is leaking gas and the little accel pump jet is missing from the top of the carb. So it just dumps fuel out of the hole when you open the throttle.

Next work is rebuild the carb and rewire pretty much everything.

Been awhile since the last update here... this truck has been under the knife getting a MustangII front suspension and an engine and tranny swap. I decided to go with a 300 six and ZF 5 speed for a practical usable truck.

The motor is out of a '90 F150 and the trans is from a '92 F250. New gaskets, some paint, an Offenhauser DP manifold and now I'm looking for a good carb to top it off.

Looks like its coming along nicely! Love how you left the outside stock, and a pretty similar ride height too..

What'd you do for a rear-end? If I remember right, it originally had either a Dana60 , or Timken rear that split in the middle (Like I have in my old stock car)... Only a couple of gear ratios, and all LOW haha, but I'm guessing you changed the rear end seeing as how you've got the same style wheels as the front..

Looking good! Nothing like a practical hauler for a daily or the occasional heavy duty need. You done good with the 6 cyl and 5 spd.

Still got the old Timken stock axle for now. 4.88 ratio. Might have to run it for awhile til I can round up another axle.

The wheels in the back are still the same ugly wagon wheels, I just painted the centers black.

I love your truck! As far as the rear axle, look for a 1957-1972 F100 9" rear. They are the right width, and the spring perches and wheel bolt pattern are the same as your truck. It's an easy bolt-in swap.

Good info, thanks. But how about the Ujoint? I'm having a custom driveshaft made, with a 1310 series on the back. I would imagine that the 9" is the same.

Where did you get the mustang 2 . Looks really good. Building a 54 f100 now and front suspension is next on list.

Hey Gary, if you want to keep the 8 bolt rear, a '67-'72 F250 should bolt right up. I've got one en route myself.

Since you've already gone to a 5-bolt up front though, I guess the '57-'72 9" would be a better bet.

Coming along nicely though, good luck!

I actually do want to keep the 8 lug in the rear, that way I dont have to buy more wheels lol. The front is 5 bolt but its the smaller car pattern, 4.5". Plus 3.73 sounds nice since I'll be using this truck to tow.
