1952-59 Ford 1955 ford customline

does anyone know what the gear ratio is on the rearend of a stock 55 ford 272 with 2brl carp.

They list four different ratios for V8s of that year.

 

3:30 usually with the auto. 3:78 with the std. 3:89, I think, with od.
I also think there's a 3:56 in there somewhere...

 

My 55 with 272 overdrive two barrel dual exhaust had a 3.89

 

my rear is rounded with a large bump on one side in the back and the tag says 3.78 but it don't look like any 8in or 9in ford it was probly made be for the 8in

 

According to Ford literature, the following are the axle ratios for the Coupe and Sedan with V8 engine:
Conventional 3 speed: 3.78 standard, 3.89 available
Overdrive: 3.89 standard, 3.78 available
Fordomatic: 3.30 standard, 3.55 available
