1955 Ford-Simca Comete Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo was the uprated and improved version of the standard Ford Comete, with more power and significant styling and trim improvements. Final year of Comete Monte Carlo production (in 1954, Ford France was sold to Simca, with the Comete being offered without changes from the Ford-based car through 1955.) Ford Flathead V-8 with rare, Pont à Mousson 4-speed synchro transmission. Coachwork designed by Stabilimenti Farina and built by Facel Metalon (makers of Facel Vegas.) Ryan previously wrote about Cometes here. This car spent years in storage in the Chicago area until being found and brought back to life as an unrestored but operational car in 2014. Here's a video of the car running. It is a structurally sound, running project, riding on new chrome steelies and Vredestein tires. Note: true mileage unknown. Needs interior and some trim. This is a wild and authentic combination of Italian styling, French coachbuilding, and American power, offering early Ferrari coupe looks at a fraction of the price—which in this case is $45,000.00 OBO. Car is available for inspection. More photos here.
