Hi, We need some help finding a reputable source for 1955 Lincoln electrical parts for the power top. Specifically we need the three wire electric motor which powers the two cables going to the left and right sides. Everything else appears to be functioning as intended. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thanks, we would if we had one. Some shop in the past "lost" it and attempted to replace it with one for a Ford, not the same.
call Bob at Owens salvage in Texas... see if he maybe has a core for rebuilding. he's a HAMB member and an alliance vendor as well.
I never knew there was a Ford product with a cable operated top system,if its going to have a 12 volt electrical system you might be able to use a 71-6 full size GM convertible top motor since it is cable operated.
Thanks for all the suggestions but still no luck. To clarify the mechanism, this is a completely stock, original car with 6 volt positive ground. The electric motor in question has two outputs, one on each side of the motor connected to two cables which look exactly like speedo cables including the square drive end. The electric motor should have three large wires, one a ground I ***ume and two others which would be individually powered by the present relay which is original and does produce the power as required.
The 71-6 GM full size convertibles have a very similar motor but its 12 volts, they have two speedo looking cables coming off the motor going to two gear boxes one on each side of the top mechanism. It must be a Lincoln only has the 55 Fords and Mercs had a hydraulic system and I have never seen a 55 Lincoln in a junkyard and never seen any convertibles, you might want to get a Hemmings motors news for those parts as I doubt too many people on these car forums have ever seen one.
