Hey guys, I've got a question bout the side trim on my '55 Ranch Wagon, I figured that this would be the place to get the answer. I bought a basket case '55 online and when I get it delivered I noticed that it has the Fairlane style door and front fender trim, or the '56 Parklane style trim. My question is, was this available from Ford in 1955 or have my doors and front fenders been swaped out? Thanks, I appreciate any thoughts on this.. Joe-Racer
Joe , your red/white ranchwagon is likely a '55 . It looks to have the trim along the bottom of the'windows . That trim is '55 only , the only exception was '56 parklane wagon . Yours is not a parklane Joe , but it is a whole lot more solid than your "F-bomb"or the pile I started with! will make a neat wagon .
Yes the ***le and bill of sale state it to be a 1955, no doubt. But the trim dips down in the middle of the door and raises back up (going forward) up to the top middle of the fenders toward the headlamps. So, I'm guessin' that the doors and fenders have been replaced or converted over to accept the "Fairlane" style trim. Thanks for the tip on the trim beneath the rear side gl***, I didn't know that was '55 only for Ranch Wagons.
A Ranch Waggon is the same spec as a Customline so should have had the straight strips front to back. The trim you are mentioning is for the Parklane but hey it is still 55. Don't worry about it unless you want a 100% car. Just enjoy, they are great cars. Regards
I'm not gonna be a stickler on that detail, I kinda like it. But I'm ***uming that someone had tried to make a Parklane "clone" at some time, cause it does have a '56 grille as well. But hey, thats fine. Just happy it has good metal!! Wish I had time to work on it, I have so many irons in the fire its not funny. Thanks for all of the information guys.
