You can also use the keywords "what's traditional" or the ******** tech question of "Who makes the best wide whites?".

    Go here:
    http://www.oldbuickparts.com/nos/56parts.htm

    And search part number: 5455765

That's a rebuild kit. My brakes have been great since I rebuilt the M/C.

Is this a factory restoration? Can't you find another master cylinder and retrofit it? Unless you just redid your front drums it might be a good time to swap over to front discs. Those heavy fifties cars need 'em and unless you're running Skylark wires nobody's going to see them.

I’ve got a spare. I pulled it from a parts car, in anticipation of ever needing to replace the original. I too was shocked when I saw the price for a rebuilt unit. Seems as though it was a one year only gig.
I have never used the spare, only filled it with fluid and stacked it on a shelf, so I cannot guarantee how well it functions.
PM me or email me and we can work something out…maybe trade for that WCFB?
    Cheers

As you probally know, you will have to do more than just bolt another master cyl.in it's place, as the pedal ratio is only like 4 to 1. I tried to bolt up a Ford Courior power unit in mine as it uses a remote fill mc, it bolted in great, just had to fill a couple of holes, drill a couple, and make a push rod with the "ball" on the end. it looked great but I could not get the pedal long enough to stop the car. You may be able to use one of the wilwood(very compact) pedals, or you are gonna have to hang some swing pedals.
    Hope this helps,
    Steve

Mike, Do you know what is fragged on your customer's M/C? Have you had it apart yet?
If you need a master cylinder explosion diagram for this specific unit let me know and I can fax or email you one.

From what I can see of the picture thats the same as my '55 Olds. If you can get that confirmed try www.fusick.com might be a little cheaper.

The olds one mounts below the steering column where the floor comes up to meet the firewall, a rod sits between the servo and the pedal..

There are advertisers in Hemmings that can resleeve the bore using br***, stainless, etc. Did you try Kanter in NJ to see if they have anything?

Krafty, it is different from the 55 Olds, or alteast my 55 Olds one (well was mine). Thanks though man!

Paul: Everyone wants 400+ dollars, since there is no kit, they actually re-sleeve it, and drill new holes in the MC and run it different. They could be full o' ****, but thats what im told. Kanter said in thier never to helpfull manner "well, you are not the first one to call about it, and no one makes it, and no we dont know where to get it"...they reffered me to White Pole Restorations, which I cant find and am wondering if its some joke I dont get...lol.

Nailhead, I dropped you a line today, thansk for the diagram. I wil be in contact with you about the one you have on your self.

Thanks to 38Dlxcp for the tip on this MC being different enough to where I cant retrofit it with another MC without major work.
