Well, this is a complicated issue. The wife is retiring in about 13 months, so any large purchases have to happen pretty quick. The 56 needs an engine, so I may collect parts while she is working.

I have the roadster to finish first. It needs interior and the valves set since the new cam swap.

The 55 is further out than the 56, so we may try and knock out the 56 first. It's slated to replace my daily. The 56 has most everything to be finished. I have the motor/tranny etc on the stand, so no major purchases for it.

I have 4 years til I can punch out, so depending on the new income projections, this is all pretty fluid.

I retired last year but still worked 3 days a week part time until this September when I blew my semi truck engine up. Sold it and now I'm full time retired. First month I was off, I did more work around here and for a few other folks than I have done in 25 years! Seems like when folks hear you're no longer working, they want you to do stuff for them now that you have the time! Just now starting to wind down and get to stuff I want to do, although a complete bathroom remodel is happening soon.

We inherited some money, it really has made the transition easier. I've been able to buy a few things otherwise I'd had to waited on. With inflation the way it is, money just doesn't go as far as it did. Living on a fixed income every month makes you stretch it as far as you can!

Enough hijacking on my part, keep collecting parts and get stuff together!

    Yeah, that's prolly never happening......

  7. I could never figure out why people would take extremely nice fenders off one Truck and put
them on another one of different color and not color match said fenders. That said the truck pictured is a very nice Truck if you can overlook the color issue. I see someone fixed the Gas fill tube issue on most 56 F-100's.

Is that due to bulb placement? If so perhaps a reposition or addition of another bulb would improve that situation along with LEDs as much as many say they don't like them...I am running 12 volt filament bulbs and so far so good but bulb placement may be the biggest issue...

Adding 2 additional bulbs in the bed ends is a neat idea but perhaps having 2 locations so far apart may confuse those who have trouble focusing...perhaps thats why they went with a third brake light...three areas of focus instead of 4...

I too think those tailights are a class act on those 56s. Tough decisions for sure...

  9. I think it's just the distance of placement of the light forward of the end of the Bed plus they are generally mounted very low on the fender. I have not thought of it till now but it would be interesting to know at what distance behind the Truck the right side light disappears from view.

I’m still collecting parts. Found a seat and picked up the missing hood, tailgate and rear roll pan.

Drug the F100 into the big bay and pulled the “Loadmaster 5000 XL (tm) “ motor mounts Lumpy63 dabbed up. Jerked the motor out and pulled the intake to take a gander. The previous owner said it was a 327, but the numbers appear to be a 69-74 350, 010 block.

I guess it could be a LJ crank. It had some good stuff done to it. Has screw in studs and guide plates, a 7 Qt Milodon pan, looks to have some port work done also. Should make some good trading fodder.

0FB338C9-0B32-4075-823C-7DA2BA868DEE.jpeg I made a decision and pulled the trigger. Now, I have to follow through. Paint bought for the F100. Goodbye Fire engine red. This color has more of a 60’s feel to me.

Spray out of the new color.
