Have an opportunity to pick up a Ford F350 1956 for free. It needs quite a bit of work and I want to somewhat convert it back to a F100 style truck. I've heard that the front fenders are bigger and there may be some differences in the frame. Anyone with some knowledge on this be able to help me on this. It has a flatbed with duallies and I plan on replacing the rear end and front suspension and finding a bed for it. If the frame is larger, is there going to be issues with the drivetrain fitting? Thanks Josh
Don't think the fenders are bigger rather it is the wheel cutouts that are taller on the larger wheel trucks, 3/4 ton and up.
My uncle has had many of those '53-'56 trucks. I know the fenders have a bigger opening. Don't know about the frame. Will try to find out. Gene.
Frame is longer and taller. Bed is wider and taller. Axles and hubs are different... Here's a thread of one that is being built into a F100: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425523
Do not s**** the frame! Someone building a one ton will want it. There not easy to find. I have a friend who has a crew cab 3 door built in 56 I'd like to have.
