1952-59 Ford 1956 Fairlane automatic pedals

Anyone have a set of automatic pedals for a 56 Fairlane? I'm pulling the three speed manual out and installing an automatic. I'd like to replace the standard pedals with an automatic set up.

 

Try www.owenssalvage.com they have a large Ford inventory or if you strike out you can eliminate the clutch pedal and replace it with a steel tubing spacer and a larger brake pad. If you find the whole ***embly you can sell your old stick pedal unit for someone doing a T-5 swap.

 

There is an automatic 56 wagon near me. I can call him and see if the pedal is still in it.

 

I would like to find the original ***embly. If not I will modify it.

When I did my pedal swap only needed the pedal and the Ford-O-Matic spacer,I sold the stick pedal set-up on ebay.

When you say you only needed the pedal and the spacer does that mean you can retain the current brackets that are already in place? When you say pedal does that mean the larger pad and the armature?

 

Yep, the bracket is the same you can just take a measurement of the width of the old clutch pedal and find a piece of tubing to make a spacer from. As far as the pedal pad goes you could order a new larger one keep the old brake pedal or add an aftermarket pretty one it's your choice. Not sure what you mean by "armature"

 

I didn't realized that the pedal pad was bolted to the actual brake arm. It looks like I can just buy a new larger brake pad and replace the small manual brake pad. Then the spacer would just replace the clutch pedal.

That's why we love our Fords nothing real complicated.

 

Who ever swapped my car from auto to stick kept the original brake pedal, I just measured my clutch pedal and cut the brake to match, got tired of the big pedal getting in the way. Too bad I did this about a year ago.

 

My 56 was originally a 3 speed manual and converted to automatic. I took the manual brake pedal off and replaced it with an automatic pedal that I got on ebay. It was about a 5 minute job. I am confused as to what you mean by " automatic pedal(s). " Wouldn't you remove the clutch pedal?
