Anybody know of any videos or reading material on putting in a headliner. I got a quote for 1800 but I’m starting my own business and that’s not in the budget right now. Anybody ever done one or got any technical info?

My buddy recently did his. It came out ok for a first time doing one. He could snug it up just a bit it a couple of places. He says it doesn't bother him enough to get back to it yet. He watched all the utube videos he could find on his car.

I had mine done in a shop and it wasn't nearly that expensive. One thing he required was an old one for a pattern and having the bows numbered. I didn't have a Skyliner headliner so I removed the headliner from my Victoria parts car and cut the front of it off.

This is about the most complete video on doing a Ford headliner install, the Ford Shop Manual says to remove the rear window This shows the procedure in a 52-54 Ford https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=189455602563771&set=pcb.1663741183793062 When I checked it out in Phoenix several shops said they needed to set an appointment with a gl*** company the day of the installation to R&R the gl*** (about $200) The Hispanic owned shops charged less and were more familiar with older cars you might want to check the ones in your area.

The problem with removing the rear gl*** is that the studs for the wide stainless trim that Victorias and Skyliners have are behind the headliner. Since the guy who did mine didn't have to remove the rear gl*** I'm guessing it isn't necessary.

Shop around. I got quoted about 400-600 including materials. if you have your originals still in and try to do it make sure to number the bows and not loose the spring tensioners at the rear. I have done a couple and not to crazy to do.
    just time consuming.

just the headliner itself is about 250.0. Whilst you have that uncovered you might want to put new materials for insulation into the roof.

you also might have to update the windlace and that does get pricey really quick

Everything Abe said X2. Yes, I did mine. very tedious but doable. The hard part for me was working with my hands over my head...it tires me out quickly. Also, I didn't have seats in when I did it. On my '57, it requires the back window out, don't know about your Merc.
I got my headliner from Automotive Interiors in M***. (?) great quality. I ordered extra matching material to cover my sunvisors. They will send fabric swatches of your chosing.
