Ford here in Australia 1st produced a ute in 1933 and continues to modern day like GM. Ford did produce a Mainline ute (Ranchero), based on a Customline, in 55 and continued up until 1958ish? Essentially it was the same body all these years with a few minor upgrades (Grill etc). The 57 and later bodies weren't produced down under, much like early Falcons, as Ford didn't want to retool and carried over earlier bodies to save money. If you post a picture I can tell if an Aussie car. Easy to convert to LHD, use local firewall, dash and steering. We've been converting US cars to RHD for years until the 30yr rule came in, after this you can leave LHD. Big utes were phased out when the tank body was produced in 59 and later taken over by the early Falcon utes (Ranchero's). Again Aussie bodied utes were different bodies to US bodies.

those old moredor pickups were built by specialty shops not automobile factories. companies such as armbruster and stageway, and several others often called limo companies---flower cars also built by these companies...

Really? Ugly? FWIW someone at BJ didn't think it was too ugly, brought some good $$$. There is a 56 Ranchero here in town (guess people have built them all over judging from these posts) built out of a 2 door wagon back in the 60's sometime. Did a preety good job, could almost p*** as factory. It's currently for sale BTW.
