Does anyone have any info on rust repair panels for the 56 Ford? Need rear wheel openings and maybe quarters. Also the rockers are suspect but not for sure. Any help would be appreciated.
I ***ume you talking about a 56 ford car....My Dad just bought all his panels form EMS..Quarter rockers etc....They look really good and they are heavy gauge.
I had Schott lower 1/4 panels installed on my '55 back in the '80s. They were originally designed to fit over the top of existing sheet metal, and came in front and rear halves: we cut my lower 1/4s off and installed them, but the original fender skirts didn't fit because the opening was now smaller. Still pisses me off I didn't get this fixed the first time, and finding someone willing to rework these around Omaha is virtually impossible (yes, I'm still ranting about this).
I know where not to buy repair panels, Concourse parts & restoration, Inner rockers .030 thick , original .075 ! less than half ! currently putting in E.M.S. floor pans seem to fit pretty good so far, step flanged all the way around, don't know why where it meets inner rocker, had to hammer it flat there, cut off the rest of the step flange to **** weld joints to do a cleaner job, owner also got schott outer rockers, gonna tell him to get E.M.S. ones, They need to make the long rear body floor brace, are you listening E.M.S.?
I would advise not buying any patch panels unless you are going to be the one doing the work. I had a guy who paid big bucks for an NOS rear tail pan for a 51-52 Fleetline. he wanted me to cut it up and use the parts to patch his 52 convertible. (fleetline panel is different than the rest) he insisted I cut up his NOS part even though I told him I could make the parts from sheet metal I already had. so I made the parts from flat sheet and sold his NOS panel for $200.00 on ebay. the repair parts were exactly the same as what I would have cut off the NOS panel. another guy shows up with an ill fitting fender patch for a 60's F-100. paid like $75.00 for it. patched the hole with flat sheet m***aged to fit. I bet a lot of people waste money on patch panels for easily fabricated parts.
Try ,www.tee-bird.com , thats where I got ,quarter panels ,rocker panels, floor panels , ect. from. That was about 12 years ago, so I don't know what they have now. Back then it was heavy guage like the 56 was, I don't know who stamped it for them so it may be different now.
I had a complete rear mount and should of found someone to make a reproduction but they would have taken too long to make it and I wanted to get my car finished so I cut it up,I do still have the part between the bolts and used the ends for my 55.
