    Day 18: Wiring investigation

Since I'm back to waiting on a transmission, I figure I can spend some more time working on the wiring. Don't need an engine for that ;) I decided that I might as well reconnect/test some of the lights and start debugging any problems that I found.

Didn't take long before I was scratching my head. Looks like one of the previous two owners liked playing electrician. The splices were two wires folded, and the duct taped. Fantastic.

The resident rodents also liked chewing on the wiring, so I started ripping out everything that was bad. Before I ran out of light for the day I managed to make a nice map of the switches and knobs on the dash. This might come in handy for someone else who is working on one of these.

Also, can anyone verify that the other pull knob other than choke is carb heat? Marked with an H, seems to have come from somewhere around where the carb was.

A friend ended up stopping by and I decided to take the opportunity to rip off the rear fender. Having the fender off should provide easy access to the hinge that holds the dump bed on.

That thing is going to be cool with that diesel motor in it! Are you going to fix all the rust in that cab?

Going to try ;) I'm new to bodywork, and looking at what I have to work with, looks like I'll be a master by the time I'm finished!

I'm in Leominster. If you need any help, advice, or just want to shoot the breeze, hit me up. I spent most of the summer welding new floors in my car. I have a few years experience doing bodywork.
