Well I am currently emerged in wires! Im trying to instal the painless harness but accessing the wiring behind the gauges is very difficult. There is no room to get my hands up under the dash to splice into the common feed for the temp and fuel gauge. I am going to take the easy route today and instal a triple pod. Yesterday I installed the new speedo cable, did the first oil change and grounded the engine. I also started cleaning up all the stainless with copper steel wool and never dull. I am really suprised at how clean everything is coming!

what bags are you using? I was told slam specialties are the best because when inflated they become smaller in diameter opposed to others that become larger when inflated

The painless harness is just a 12 wire hotrod harness. There is still some extras to wire in. Its a good bang for your buck harness. I have some more pics I will post sometime later in the week.

does anybody know where the brake "switch" is? I am trying to wire the lights up and it seems that all of the light wires go into the steering column,

Well it should be a switch that screws into the master cylinder thwn you will need bullet connectors for it.

Yeah your kit should have came with instructions and bullet connectors for the brake switch. I had a horrible experience with painless. I wont ever purchase another pre wired harness again.

If dropped this way, at what ride height is the front suspension set correctly, as in caster, camber etc.?

it has instructions but no bullet connectors. For the brake instal per instructions it says splice and connect to brake switch. The harness I ordered was a universal hot rod harness, bare minimum. What harness did you run?

Also, pertaining to your ride height 56, did you cut and drop your spring perches? I found an article about cutting the lower perch and welding in 1" square stock and then rewelding the lower perch to the square stock.

Ancient rodder, an easy way that I have used to figure caster camber is to use a 2' level on the rim an adjust or shim your upper control arm untill the wheel is level at ride height. I dont know if this is the best way it just works for me!

hey ford 56, the build is slowing. Im starting a new job an hour and a half away with 10 hour shifts. I did get some stuff done since.

stopped wiring the car to clear my frustrations

finally got around to installing the first thing i bought for the merc, front end bushing kit. it was very easy with minor grinding on the new upper and lower ball joints. tie rod ends also installed

finished loose ends in the engine bay like tighten motor mounts and instal a dual intake plenum

started bodywork, thank god for texas cars! There are 3 rot spots on the entire car. I welded patch panels in 2 of the 3 spots and am in the final stage of sanding the filler out. (will post pics soon)

lookin good, i always wondered why they named that wiring company painless. theres absolutley nothin painless about wiring. ahaha.
did you figure your bag kit yet?

Ancient rodder, for the alignement you simply choose what is gonna be your ride height and set it there, if you gonna drive lower or higher it all goes to **** it self, but the diffrence is so minimal you wont notice.
I even did my own alignemet w/ a straight edge and a ruler and the car goes straight forever.

Edit: 56 ford custom, i couldnt see the puics you posted so i went in your gallery, the frame andrear link conversion loks real good....praise the lowered.

bonez, I havent opened that can of worms yet pertaining to the airbags. I was looking into them but got side tracked in a major way. I will get the bodywork and wiring done first and I also dont know why they call it painless because it is a huge pain in the ***!
