  4. Your motor looks great! You havent considered getting rid of the crank case vent and running a pcv system?

  7. The motor came out clean. About the pcv conversion...there are many threads here on thehamb and on y-blocksforever.com. All I did on the y for my truck was put a pcv valve at the back of the valley pan and have the hose go from that to the spacer under my carb. I dont think I had to do much more. I will double check.

  8. Great build thread! Can't wait to see more progress! I hope you make it to LSRU! I'm not sure if our '55 Merc will make it or not. My dad's got lots going on and not much time to work on it. But I plan to be there with the '53 truck. Keep up the great work and the great updates!

Finally got started back on the body. I got most of the dents knocked out of the passenger side quarter and a coat of body filler on it. Ill start sanding it down today. I also coated the roof and floor with rust inhibitor.

  14. Im glad to see this car come a long ways. What is the color you are thinking?

By the way I ordered lower control arm shaft kits for my 56 from Macs and they should be at my buddys shop today. I should be bringing the car home as soon as I figure out the tranny situation for my f100.

What colors are you planning on using?

  18. I honestly havent decided yet. Like how I titled the build 60s lowrider/custom I want patters with flake and maybe some lace. The paint im going to go all out on. Im thinking either tan and root beer brown or maybe purples and blues. Not too sure yet.

I am thinking about making some new skirts for the Merc. The ones I have are pretty chewed up....as you can see from the pics. I am thinking about making some larger skirts. I have a pic of the factory ones and a pic of a cardboard cut out of a slightly bigger pair. I Like the bigger ones but think they could stand to be a little bigger...and longer. what do you guys think?

Here are a couple of sketches I pulled out of an old magazine. The Tail end treatment is the look I'm going for on my Merc. Im not crazy about the quarter panel treatment. I also really dig the Front end treatment.

I was thinking something about like these...but with better flow on the back side...this was just a quick sketch.

Yeah...that was what I was thinking...it was a quick sketch. The finished version will flow a lot better.

I plan on using this technique to make mine...this is a great how to thread.
