Its light grey...until you add the hardener. But it is easy to work and goes on smooth.

I got my PCV situation figured out for the Merc. The intake set up i will be running has a PCV set up built into it and the valley pan.

I think i forgot to mention this: I am no longer going to run the dual log intake that i made. I am going to save that for a future project with an open hood.

In place of the dual log intake will be a Y-block marine Interceptor Intake. I picked one up off of a cool fellow HAMBER. I should have the intake ready to go on Next week if all goes well. So stay tuned for some pics of one cool looking Y-block!

  4. Yeah I need to get some of that filler. I hate bondo.

Im glad you figured out the pcv. It will help alot!

Great looking project car. Nothing like keeping engine and trans combo together like you have from a '55. FYI '55 uses air cooled trans. They can be tough enough but fyi mid '56 on had a better trans with oil cooler in radiator like modern trans. In a perfect world you'd find a mid '56 up 272/292/312 Fordomatic/ Mercomatic (same trans but used in Mercurys) with oil cooled transmission. I have a 1957 Ford Fordomatic, working but not rebuilt with converter. You'll probably find one closer in GA but I do have one. I can rebuild it if you choose. My son is at Ft Benning and we will be traveling there in April for a week. Check out my website at www.rtclassics.net and email r call me from there. Best regards.

I didnt get any work done on the Merc this weekend. but i did pick up another detraction. I got this vintage coca-cola cooler for a great price...just $80. Its is a Westinghouse WH-22T. The bottom on it is a little rough and so are the door but the rest of it is in great shape. I have already got it torn apart and most of the lower section repaired (forgot to take pics of the repairs). I am hoping to have it back together real soon.

I didnt get to do a lot on the Merc this weekend but what I did get done was a very big step. Me and my buddy got The body Back on the frame!! and then I cut the back section out of the floor board. I will start welding the floosr board back in as soon as I get some welding wire. I also put on the driver side inner fender and fender. Her are a lot of pic of the body back on the frame...enjoy.
Pic 10 is of the car sitting with the front bags down. pic 11 is with the bags all the way inflated.

Thanks. Having the body back on the Frame will help motivate me to get back to work on the car....putting her back together should be fun. I now get to start on all the finish body work.

  14. Yeah that will be great motivation now since it looks like a car again lol. Assembling should be fun.

not much progress to report. I started back on the steering wheel last night. Fixing all the cracks. I just picked up some welding wire today so I should have the rear floor board finished up this weekend. Along with the shock mounts. So you can expect some pics come Monday.

Btw way i found that seat on the side of the road. its got quite a few stories and changed a lot of hands. It didnt fit to well in any of my cars so it became a couch in a bomb shelter we all hung out at. I was sittin on it drinkin beer one night an thought itd look good in the merc. In the end glad to see someone made good use of it!

This weekend I only managed to get 1 days worth of work in on the Merc. but I got a decent amount done in that one day.

I started back on the roll pan. I cut the old one off. I started by splitting a piece of round tubing. welded it on then added the lower section and then the side pieces. I also made a frame to house my car club plaque.

I started putting the rear floor board back together as well and filled in a low spot on the passenger side quarter panel.

the last pic from the above post shows how close the roll pan will come to touching the ground with the from bags all the way up.

I'm thinking about adding some 70 camaro split front bumpers to the tail end. What do you guys think?

  28. Here´s an idea for you, for skirts and a mod to the sides.

I like it...but the only change i wold make is to the front. move the skirt back slightly because i want to keep the detail in the lower quarter.

    small update.

Cleaned up and painted the brake pedal assembly, the hood latch and the E brake handle. I also made a block off plate for the down draft tube.

I mocked up the front bumper...luckily I have 2 of them. I just have to decide which one to run. with or without the mercury letters. I can also mix and match the bumper parts to make one really good bumper.

Im going to do a full mock up with both fenders on plus the hood and front bumper so I can roll the car out for some pics so I can have some photo shopping done to it.
