I’m trying to take the doors apart for paint.
How do you get the window crank off?
Once I get the door panel out can I access the handle and lock for removal?

What about the stone guard trim behind the door? Any advice on removing it?

and while I’m at it… what about windshield trim? Is it something I should remove for paint?

There is a U shaped clip you can use this tool to push it out. To see it push back on the panel there should be a spring behind the upholstered panel. If you still have the correct plastic washers… the tool goes between the handle and washer not behind the washer.

With the window up you can get to the push ****on handle screws.

The lock is held in by a sliding clip you can see if you move away the rubber seal on the door when it is open. I use a needle nose pliers.

All stainless trim nuts are reached thru access panels if your car still has them usually 3/8” nuts. The clips stay with the trim.

If you’re talking about the stainless on the roof above the windshield, you need to remove the interior trim and visors to access the nuts to remove it. A 3/8” nut drive helps.

For Painting I removed everything I could as your paint removal photos show.. It depends how fussy you are.

Get a plastic trim kit tool set they help, they are usually red.

Well I can see where the clip is supposed to be but it’s not there and still can’t get the crank off…. Wonder if someone glued it ‍♂️ but I got the door handle off anyway. Thanks again!

Without the tool I’ve removed the wire clip with a thin welding rod or wire bending a tight hook on one end and getting it under the clip on the opposite side the tool would be used. The clip diameter is about the same as a paper clip. Good luck. I’ve never had a problem pushing the clip out with the tool.

Tape the inner door edges with duct tape, they are quite sharp to stick your hand or arm into.

Ok got it all off, thanks again for the input.
The door lock clip was just brittle and finally broke. The driver side came out without too much heartache.
    Thanks again!
