Just bought a fairly stock 1956 Olds. Someone added Olds Treadle Vac power brakes, and it appears basically correct, although I've been told it's from a 1955. Can anyone tell me if there should be an electrically operated valve before the reserve tank?

I would not think there would be any thing electrically operated on a 56, I had Treadle Vac on a 57 nomad and the only thing between the tank and engine was a check valve ( mechanical) so the tank would hold Vacuum. Ralphie

Ralphies54 is correct. I had a 56 Olds 98. From memory the check valve is bolted to the back of the inlet manifold.
