i am changing my 57 chevy froma 210 to bel air and the rear fin top mouldings are holding some misterys. how do i cut those slot holes and do i need to can i just drill a hole and hammer in those clips, has anyone else done this any help please
My 150 sedan had the long belair trim on it when I got it. The PO drilled holes and hammerd in the clips. Seemed to work well, they held on pretty good when I pulled them off.
Me or him? Mine only had a few pieces of belair trim on it, I do have a bunch of extra belair trim though.
A friend of mine is looking for 210 trim if someone hasn't spoken for it, PM me and I'll put you in touch with him - in fact, he's returning a car to 210 from being converted to bel air, so...
You can use bitch-a-thain (double sided stick window flashing) and you won't have to drill any holes. I know it sounds cheesy but the shit holds tight and is weatherproof. Beside thats pretty much how they attach emblems and trim on new cars.
The most impossible thing to find is the sheet metal inserts that slide up in the fin extensions that the bullets are mounted in. Nobody repops them.
The 210 hardtop is a rare car. You might keep the 210 parts for the day you don't want to own it any more. Another option is to just add the ribbed aluminum. Here is a picture of one that only has the Bel Air side trim added.
This is a good question, and I hope you go all the way and change all the pieces. A fake is easy to spot to the informed eye. To complete the conversion, you'll need... -Long rear quarter spears -the ribbed bel air fin inserts -gold anodized front fender louvers -gold anodized grill -bel air stainless dash trim -bel air horn ring The 210s had silver louvers and grill. That is often overlooked and makes a fake easy to spot
210s did npt have fender louvers bolted on- there were bel-airs with all silver trim instead of gold.
