Stock front end came with six leaves. So maybe you only took out two, but three are missing, lol. Be sure to trim the bumpstops if you haven't. Three leaves out will give a rough ride on big bumps. Ask me how I know...:D

Which? That there was originally six leaves? Or the rough ride on big bumps with three leaves up front?

Six leaves up front is just what they came with. I know it'll be rough on big bumps up front with three leaves because that's how mine is set up. My bumpstops are trimmed in half. I took out the three shortest leaves. This left about 2" of travel with the trimmed bumpstops. On big bumps/potholes the axle hits. Its a little "bouncy" on smaller bumps but doesn't hit.

I think you'll like the ride the rear mono leaves gives. I have 4" dropped mono leaves in the rear of mine along with 2" dropped shackles. Less travel back there than the front but the ride is waaaaay better. It never hits in the rear, although the most I've hauled is a couple of spare rims and tires.

Hmmm....we'll see how it goes. I still got the other leafs if I need to put em back in.

Removing the three leaves gave me 3" of drop. Yours may be plus or minus a little bit depending on how good or bad your springs are. I'm going to install some thinner bumpstops to try and give mine a little more travel. I think I can get another inch, which may be just enough.

Here is a '58 I did for my dad. We flipped the axle on top of the leafs, which gave it 4 1/2" of drop. We left all six leafs in, and the ride is smooth as glass:

This dude flipped a 3" dropped axle. Check it out...

That should be plenty low although it requires notching the frame and oil pan clearance may be a problem depending on what engine is in the truck. I think oil pan clearance should be much less of a concern with a six than a v8.

HOLLYWQQD has got me thinking, lol...:D

as terd has stated, with 3 leafs up front, its a bit bouncy. not too bad on the smaller bumps and humps in the road, but gotta be careful on the bigger ones. i too have 3 leafs up front in my 57 and have trimmed my bump stops in half, but when i hit a big bump my problem is the leaf bolts and top bracket hitting the frame. when i get un-lazy i am gonna bolt a strip of 3/16" thick mud flap to the frame in that area to make it no so harsh a sound when bottoming out.

Anyone know anything about hubcaps? These wheels are off an old toyota, and the clips are about 8" apart. I tried to get a baby moon made for a chevy wheel on there and it didnt fit....

Maybe pics tomorrow. Basicly all it needs now to get back on the street again is the parking break and the tires. So close!
