I am parting out a 1957 chevy 4 door and I have someone interested in the roof only, I was wondering what price $ I should ask for it? Anyone ?? Looking for advice.
A four door sedan roof skin will fit onto a 2 door sedan, they're the same if you separate them at the drip rail. If you're parting out the car, I'd cut it at the pillars and let your buyer separate all the spot welds. They do have a tendancy to rot out along the sides of the drip rails, so I can see why someone would want it. $200 actually sounds like a fair price to me as well, ***uming it's straight and solid. If the guy balks, you could say $150 if he cuts it off or something. I wouldn't hold out for big money on it, as it's a big piece to have laying around, but if he wants you to price it, start at 2 bills.
Tri-Five roofs were also used to fill the roof of 30's coupes/sedans. Due to the narrow gap of the older cars, the chevy roofs have a good smooth crown in the center and the metal is thicker than later model donors such as station wagons. Considering Steve's Auto Restoration sells new panels for around $1000, yours should definitely be worth $150-$200.
I saw a 2dr sedan roof at the Monroe swap meet 5-6 years ago. I remember it being in decent shape and the asking price was $150. It had been cut off just below the beltline at each of the pillars.
