let me first say thanks for all the responses!! i cant figure out the whole multi quote thing so>.... ive heard these cars called shoe boxes for ever *shrug* it is a 210 model, i was thinking about doing just one from the where the "shark gills" are on the top of the front fender. i plan on doin in first with side walk chalk to play around with different ideas. here is the car if you didnt see my first post....
Looks like a clean 57 Scrawny. As to my opinion about scallops on a 57, I think they need to be laid out just right to pull it off. My reasoning is there is already a lot goin on with regards to the side of the car. Maybe below the side trim, with the less is more idea and maybe on the hood and deck lid. I've given this some thought before, but never put it on paper or photoshop... Good luck. Even if you decide not to do the scallops, that is a nice ride you have.
The term shoebox was coined in the 50's and used to describe a square, boxy car. It was a derogatory term meaning that it wasn't aerodynamic enough to be raced, could have been applied to lots of different cars. Just like the term lead sled, it was also a derogatory term back in the day but everybody thinks its kool to call their car one, just like shoebox. Test this out, next time you see a full custom walk up and say "that's a bad ass mud-sled you have there" and judge the reaction!
Holy Shit, someone buy the man a f'ing cookie, he is king of the post reults! Some of us do other things than talk shit and criticize everyone. You should try it. And the Alexander Bro's '57 looks sick. I am not normally a big fan of scallops. but that picture it NICE!
Here's scallops that are being laid on my car, it's a '56 so the lay-out is different but also a 4-door.
