I just spent two hours reading this whole build from start to finish. What an amazing, beautiful car you put together. You are very fortunate to have a dad with all those skills and that you two can work together on it.
Thank you, Joel! Made another change to the car. A few months back, I bought some parts from Wayne aka @StillOutThere, which included a factory 2x4 intake for a '57-58 Chrysler 300. The manifold had some issues, and I didn't have any WCFBs laying around, so I figured it would just sit on the shelf a while. Then last month my dad scored some carburetors, so that pretty much meant the car was getting dual quads. Still have some dialing in to do, but it runs nice. (here is a before shot for comparison, with the odd factory air cleaner)
2 thumbs up on the dual quads! Hemis always look and run best with more than 1 carburetor. I'm still in awe of what you have vs. what you started with.
Gotgas.... Cowtown Mopars show is at Summit again this year April 25. I will be there this year!! But I will have model cars in that part of the show.
It's been almost a year since I first saw Danny's car it all started at a gas station when me and my dad got drinks and the first thing I saw when I got out the door is dannys chrysler at a gas pump. I was staring at it when we left and went to see other people and cars at the show then I saw it his car pull up infront of the shop and meeting him for the first time he put his hand out to give me a hand shake but my hands were full so I put my pinky out [emoji1]. After a while I got sick and left the show I got sad because I didn't stay around but atleast I got a pair of dickies after we stopped by to have food then went home after that day my life changed forever since I was a bad kid at school after I saw the car I started acting straight and getting good grades to go see the car and gotgas and go to car shows that car was what got me to be into kustom cars seeing people I didn't even know existed like Larry watson George barris and gene winfeild. And after this whole thing is over I get to ride in my dads wagon around town but til then im building my own car out of cardboard. Hey Vinny, that was an awesome comment. Thank you dude! All this time the Chrysler has had an ugly trunk. I don't care, I just toss stuff back there. As long as the battery, the harness, and the amp were dry, everything was good. But every time I opened it up, dad would mumble, "somethin somethin ugly trunk." He was right, of course. A while back, I trimmed up a gray 5x7 rug from Wal Mart and laid that in the trunk floor, with a hole trimmed out for the fuel filler. A nice start, but it was still ugly. Then a few weeks ago, my shop neighbor was throwing out a 4x8 sheet of thick purple PVC plastic. So I stole it and decided to make some trunk panels out of it. I wrapped them in the same gray and silver vinyl used in the interior. I rummaged around my stash of stuff, and came up with some stainless trim to put on it, complete with upward swooshes for a little... je ne sais quoi. In the center, I put the Chrysler lion crest ornament that had been shaved off the hood. It looked ridiculous on the nose but works here, I think. Dad painted up the tire cover, and the battery cutoff switch is a piece of throttle linkage and a turn signal stalk. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. It was a nice little coronavirus project anyway.

Ha! I was thinking as it was going together that I'm vying for Street Machine of the Year 1992. Leaving the carpet exposed up to the back of the seat wasn't an option, since the battery and electrical system is set up there over the axle. I tried to make the panels suit the car by bringing some of the interior scheme into the trunk. But you're right - the closed in trunk is decidedly street roddy. Oh well, I'll just keep it shut, it looks better that way.
You guys are funny. If you don't think it's street roddy now, just wait til you see the California Duster storage...
I got them from Speedway. There weren't a lot of options for the small WCFB base. I've since swapped out the elements for plain paper ones.
Driving home as few minutes ago, I spotted a beautiful 50 Merc. Chopped, lowered and smooth Black. I gave the guy a thumbs up as he passed. Got to thinking, What car is as cool as that? My mind immediately answered, a more stylish, more powerful, less common but still appreciated by all custom that Gotgas has built!
