Sweet Jesus, this thing gets better and better. If you make it to the HAMB drags someday, I want a picture of me by this beautiful classy car.
I had an idea I wanted to try. Fogged a light gold paint in the wheel centers. It's super-subtle, but adds just a little visual interest. I like it!
I use that trick on model cars, use a thinned wash of color in recessed surfaces, especially on chrome grilles, etc. to give them depth. Another amazing touch on an already outstanding car!
Fantastic! I have seen chrome wheels color fogged before but what makes these look so darn good is that you left the ribs between the lug nuts. Very nice touch!
...which reminds me of the question I had in my mind when I first saw the pic of the fogging: how in the world did you leave the ribs? I don't see any tape lines where the paint and chrome meet. Did you wipe the paint off of the chrome? Did you airbrush the fogging? Whatever you did I really like it, but I'm scratching my head (read that pea brain) about how you did it.
That is stunning, just when I thought your car couldn’t get anymore elegant. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
We masked a circle just outside the ribs and lightly misted color on (not too thick),then removed the masking and gently wiped paint away with lacquer thinner on a clean shop rag. I like doing it this way because it doesn't leave an edge. Also only takes about 5 minutes per wheel.
No update, but I really just wanted to put up this picture of my Mopar and my dad's Cadillac at a fun little car show get together a few weeks ago. Put on a mask and enjoy your cars if you can! And just look how much LOWER his is. (he loves hearing that)
Inspired by @Blue One I decided to put up a short walkaround on this thread. I think we've all gone a little stir crazy.
I wouldn't have built your car, because I like my own rides more (as starting points). But boy, do I like it! Every detail of your build was perfectly appropriate to your car.
I just joined the ranks of my brothers in awe. Fantastic work, Beautiful results. A role model for us all
Fantastic @Gotgas !! What a great car and build thread. Giving us the good, bad, and ugly makes your thread an entertaining read. Thanks for the ride. Enjoy it bro!!
Wow, I'm blown away, thank you for all the kind compliments. ...except that one, I'm not quite sure how to take it. j/k Tony, thank you too, even though you're a Ford guy.
