If I had the original intake manifold on the car that would simplify things for me. The stock generator would fit since it's mounted more towards the middle of the engine.

OEM 4 bl intakes shouldn't be over a hundred, what happened to the 2X4 in the pics on previous page?

I have a couple of original intakes but was going with an aluminum manifold on this car.

Well yes, by choosing this car it is self inflicted. The stock manifold wouldn't help at this point though because I needed the Chevy water pump to fit the radiator. Stock generator would not have fit so pulleys wouldn't have lined up anyway.

 On one of my 331s I used the BB Chevy W/P & a HH alt bracket on the OEM '55 intake that puts the alt in about the stock location. Just moved the bracket back to where the pulleys lined up & drilled a new hole in the bracket, plus an extension to reach the second bolt down point on the intake.

I've been looking in to those Denso type alternators. They are really small and have enough amps for what I'm doing.

First will try out one last alt bracket that should be here tomorrow.

My alt sits above the valve cover on drivers side it has a bracket that mounts to the intake on my 2x4 intake. and another bracket that mounts to the crossover. I've added pics.

Husky is on the way to a local fab shop to have the radiator and fuel cell fitted. I need a welder. IMG_0486.JPG IMG_0484.JPG IMG_0485.JPG

Yes! Amazing you've gotten so far without a welder!

  18. Looks like a very nice project. Very glade to see the hood didn't fly open, on the way home. I'm trying to hide a 392 myself.

I've got to get one. I've had my eye on a miller for some time......even have a helmet! Just need to pull the trigger.

Little by little I try doing more myself. Sometimes the quickest path is for me to get some help. I have a pretty good vision of what I want and sometimes because of my lack of tools I need help. I mocked up the radiator and fuel cell but I need the fab shop to help with the sheet metal work.

I made sure the latch closed. On my other Husky a friend was driving it and the hood did fly open. He forgot to latch it when it closed. Had about $300 in damage. Luckily I had paint left over.

Cool license plate "Black POX"... Number should be 666, well it's only 223 off.

I bought myself a Miller 140 when I retired 4 yrs. ago. It's been one of my favorite toys since, and never regretted making the purchase!

Made a little progress on the car the past couple of weeks. I can't claim any credit for this as it was my friend Tom doing the work. Tom has been designing a brake/clutch master cylinder set-up for my car. He's mocking it up on a frame rail I cut out of a junker car. Tom is a CAD wiz so all the engineering was done on his computer before any metal was cut.

Going with the High Power Master brake assist we had to have a 4:1 pedal ratio. The car was very close to this already so that was a good start. We'll be able to use the car's existing pedal set-up but have had to modify a few pieces. The majority of the metal stock was laser cut. What you see in the pictures is the initial mock-up. There is a still a lot of welding to do. The brake master is really huge so Tom has spaced it away from the frame just enough to get a straight throw to the pedal. Everything is heavy duty so it will hold up to stomping on the pedals.

The car didn't originally have a hydraulic clutch master cylinder....it was mechanical. In this set-up the brake and clutch masters will use the same reservoir. Tom has already set-up my hydraulic clutch throw out bearing with a 4:1 ratio. We tested it with a set of 4:1 pedals already so I know what the clutch will feel like.

Once we get this in the car then well need to plumb it all and find a place to locate the brake pump. Running out of room under the car in a hurry.

Cool set up. One question though. God forbid it should happen, but if you had a leak on one system you might lose enough fluid that the other system wouldn't work properly. Or am I missing something.

I had the same concern. If there was room for two reservoirs, I'd sure want them separate for safety's sake.

I'd like it to be there but don't think I have enough time to make it happen. Am trying though.

I finally have some progress to report. The fuel cell and radiator are now mounted in the car and almost done. Here are some shots of the fuel cell. It doesn't stick down too far so there is still a good view of the IRS if you're looking under the bumper.

In this shot you're looking at the box that holds the cell in place. It has a couple of rolled grooves on the bottom much like the bottom of the Husky gas tank

In this shot you can see there is plenty of room for adding fuel lines. On the right you can see the top of the Aeromotive Phantom pump in the tank. Should be nice and quiet in there.
