1958-1960 MN Dirt Track

    My Dad had a race track 50 miles west of Mpls in 58-60,French Lake Speedbowl....had lots of spectators....anyone have any pictures/movies????

    Cool I have some footage of the old track in Red Wing MN. I had never heard of the French Lake Speedbowl. I bet if someone was to stop in at French Lake Auto Parts and talk to Floyd about it, he could tell ya.

    I was gonna say talk to Floyd at French Lake Auto Parts also, but as you know there could be way more than the one "French Lake" around here.

    Thanks guys.....Track was in French Lake,Mn and Floyd is my Dad.We have about 1 minute of film footage of the track and about 1 dozen pictures.But my Dad said there was some people always filming,but he doesnt know who they were,said he was to busy Racin!!!
     
  6. Don't have anything on the race track, but I do love roaming around French Lake Auto parts, just like stepping back in time in time, checking out all the old cars.

    My buddy Barry said you were looking for pics, i looked through some pics i have and had one with a junkyard right close in the background but then found the date on the back, 64, not your dads track then.

    Like I said there is way more than one French Lake around here!:rolleyes:

    Check with Tom Porter at Adelman's engine rebuilders in Blaine. He was racing then.
    Bill Taylor, a dirt track photographer (and short-course starter at Bonneville) might also have an idea.....

    i talked to my dads old buddy "spike" who still does outlaw racing and he seemed to remember something about it. he's looking too. its hard to get good info out of these old guys.:)
