Hi Everyone, I'd like to see some photos of people who've used drop axles with drop springs as well. Brother's trucks has one that they say doesn't require any modifications to the steering or leaf springs. Does any one have any experience with this product? (https://www.brotherstrucks.com/1947-59-CHEVY_GMC-TRUCK-DROPPED-FRONT-AXLE-3/productinfo/DFA4759/) I'd be using this with Posies Duel Flex Front Springs. Between these two items, it should drop the front 6" - right? The drop axle should give me 3" and the springs advertise a drop of 3". A few questions: Does the photo below look like its dropped about 6" in the front? I ***ume the best way to figure out how much to drop the rear is to get the front dropped first, right? I need to adjust my pinion angle as I make these changes to the ride height? The picture below is a lot more level than the stock level of the truck. My truck's rear sits higher compared to the front. Anything else I should consider or am not thinking of? Thanks everyone! By the way - if anyone knows the owner of this truck, I'd love to ask them what they did! I want the truck to sit like this:
On a Chevy with dual leaf springs the majority is going to say get an original axle that Sids has dropped. Dropped Axles | You can buy outright or exchange or if you want your own axle dropped and returned they can do that. He hits some of the big swapmeets and shows in the country and if you can catch him there that saves shipping. To go that low you are looking at dropped springs and a flip kit and C notch in the rear along with the dropped axle. Personally I wouldn't give 5 bucks for one of those **** ugly tube dropped axles that look like trailer axles.
Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I'm not thrilled with the look of the Brother's axle. Just liked that I wouldnt have to mess with the steering. Can you recommend a flip kit? I've been looking at doing that or moving the hangers and putting them on the top of the frame, using drop shackles and drop springs but not putting the axle over the springs. I do this work my back yard with limited access to certain things. Not able to weld so everything needs to be bolt on for now.
