Recently I was thinking about installing the cl***ic 59' Caddy bulbs on my Biscayne, but I have always wanted Impala tail light housings on the car as well. Does anyone know if this it is possible to install Impala housings and if it is, how would I go about doing it? (Custom fitting , installing, etc.) I'm not looking to install 3 tail lights on each side as that would take a lot of body work. I'm just looking to do 2 on each side.

This is my 58 Biscayne 2 Door Sedan. The first car I ever bought. 10/31/15

I'm no '58 Chevrolet expert, but isn't that a "DelRay"? I seem to remember that a "Biscayne" had fancier side trim.

Maybe lower it a little and lose the whitewalls but it is perfect just the way it is. I always liked the three tone black/white/red paint.

Just briefly looking on google images, Biscayne/Bel Air and Impala rear body is different. It looks like a lot of body work would be involved as the Impala lights are individual.

Probably could be done using just two of the Impala's light ***embly's.
But the bodywork at the base appears different, too.

Your car is a delray and the quarter panel is a completely different panel. Don't mess with it it looks perfect how it is

Voodoo child 58 . If you or a friend can do basic fab work, this is an easy and very simple modification. The lights themselves are bolt in. You just need to modifie the back panel / mounting base for the two units to mount to. I think the finish result would be awesome. I have restore several Impalas for customers over the years and have always liked the singular taillights better than the Belair/ Bscayne pot metal two in one unit. Anything would be better than the way over used 59 Caddy lights . Its your car, Make it YOUR car! Good luck Larry

To all saying that its a Delray, I ran the VIN and it came back as a Biscayne. The guy I bought it from told me the person he bought it from had to remove the side trim because both sides were badly dented/pitted. I'm still looking for the pieces to make it correct.

So I'm just wanting to mount 2 tail lights on each side. Will they still need to be modified to have 2 installed? Is there anyway to mount just the 2 without having to modify the body? I know that 3 won't be able to be installed because its to narrow.

How do you guys think about keeping the same lean the car has (a little lower in the front than the back) but lowering it a bit more?

The term is "raked" and yes lowering it a bit more would look much better IMHO.

The 1958 wagons are single taillight, so that kinda gives you an idea on how it would look.

THIS ^^^^^^^ is the only post that makes any sense at all, based on the OP's original comments. It continually amazes me how many readers don't 'read' and or ignore the OP's question to insert their unrelated opinion.

It matters not one whit whether the car is a Bel Air, Biscayne or Del Ray. The subject is taillights, not side trim.

ONE BAD 51 MERC is spot on with his recommendations. It shouldn't take much of an imagination to 'see' two lights in the space occupied by the oval lamp presently on the car. Simple fab job.

Thank you all for compliments! The car is still in project condition, but after replacing floor pans, inner rocker panels, cross members, and a little body work I'll be able to focus on the best part. Paint and interior! Also thinking of changing the motor (350) to a 348 or 409 (possibly w/ tri power setup).
Thinking about going with a light/dark blue metal flake with possibly a white roof and blue/white tuck and roll interior.

I have some ideas that I would like to do similar to these pictures.

I seen you said in another post that you are 17 and that you were looking for a 58 or 59 chevy? Glad to see another 17 year old like myself, has the same taste. Also funny that we are both from Illinois.

You ever been to the Route 66 car show in Springfield? If you haven't I highly recommend you go to it. Its from September 23-25 in Downtown Springfield. Some of the coolest cars you'll ever see. Last year there was a guy from Australia who had a 50s export Chevy with the steering on the left.

    upload_2016-8-12_8-30-55.jpeg
How about stepping out of the box a little and try something different like this:
Might take a little fab work as mentioned earlier,
but it wouldn't be the same old, same old.
Just throwing another option out there...:D
