What is the easiest way to find out the gear ratio with out dropping the pumpkin? It has a AA code with the numbers 12/09/9, it sure seems low geared on the highway, am running a 327 3 speed on the column, one source said it was a 3;55, another source said it was 3;70. This car was originally a 3 speed on the column with a 6 cylinder engine, no overdrive, thanks Lloyd
you could look at the tag if its still on one of the bolts, or you could jack it up and mark the tires and spin them one revalution and count how many times the drive shaft spins. thats a guestimate tho
Jack up the back end and mark a rear tire and the inner lip of the wheel well at the same point. Rotate the tire 1 rev and count the number of pinion turns. Example would be 3 1/2 turns for 3:55 or just over 4 full turns would be something like 4:10
