    I have a 58 chevy
Delray with the plain jane horn without a trim ring.
I bought an original horn ring that probably came on a belair or biscayne.
it came with the center piece too as they are different.
i can not figure out the order of the contact parts to get my horn working without staying honked?????

    HELP!

I googled it, and found this funky diagram that someone drew, which as I recall is what you need to know.

I had the same problem with my moms, I found a you tube video from one of the aftermarket wheel companies that makes the smaller replacement 58-60 impala wheels. want to say it was ididit or something. I did not take pikes or I would post them for you.

I've never seen a spring plate with tabs, so you probably should ignore that instruction. But the spring plate (which is an almost flat plate, slightly dished) needs to be installed on the steering wheel, first. It might still be there, if you never removed it. That is what makes contact, to make the horn work. It connects the little spring loaded button, to the steering wheel metal. It rests on the plastic part of the steering wheel, at the outer edge of the plate.

all of that is in tact.
the problem is once i tighten the 3 screws there is no movement and the horn would constantly honk
