Am having a hard time fixing the sending unit on my 58 chevy, new sending unit, tank and gauge, when tank is full gauge reads 1/2 tank, anyone know what part# ford is supposed to have a better float than the stock chevy brass one? Need some help, thanks, Lloyd
I had a 59 Elky with a similar problem. I replaced the sending unit with a brand new one and I ran out of gas when according to the gauge I still had slightly more than 1/4 of a tank. I pulled the sending unit out, moved the float up and down, and still the lowest the gauge would read is 1/4 tank. I replaced the gauge with a different OEM one and it still wasn't perfect but more accurate than the old one, sorry I cant help you out with the Ford part# your looking for. I guess worst case you can go aftermarket..
