We were told when we bought this car that this 1958 Chevy Del Ray was owned within the same family its entire life. This chevy was originaly owned by a farmer who quite driving in 1981. He sold the car, not being able to use it for a few years, to his brother in Morley Ia. (east central iowa) the second brother drove the delray until 1979 and then parked it in his garage until he passed away. Last year, I bought the car from the third brother who was representing the Delray (you can see him in the video saying goodbye to it when I picked it up). I got it home, replaced the starter selenoid, bled the brakes, and primed the carb. It fired right up. As the video shows, it rides and drives. I drove the car down the road at 50 mph and it steered true. The brakes stopped the car but I would replace the brake cylinders and lines. The clutch was weak (I would replace it) The shift linkage shifted but I would adjust the linkage. The dash is original and extremely clean and all of the guages, lights, and blinkers, work (other than a few burnt out bulbs) The body is original paint and the interior looks all original and in great shape for 56 years old (I pictured any spots I did see) The floor pans and trunk pans look good but do have some minor rust. The chrome is all there and shines nice. This car could be left the way it is and enjoyed while you tinker with it, or you could drop a v8 4 speed in it and take it to the next level. All of the glass is there and all of the windows go up and down. The doors shut solid and the key is the original key. The locks work but I had to wiggle the key a bit to get the trunk to open. There was some body work started above the passeneger side headlight (pictured). I took pics of any cosmetic spots I did see. In my opinion, this is very straight car for the age. It has a great look with the original paint! I do not want to overcall this Delray or undercall it as it is 56 years old. This car comes with a clean current title ready for you to register.
