another tip on lowering the rear is to move the front(rear) perch to the top of the frame rail, you have to drill new holes and run 5/8 bolts through the rail...this also, adds another 2 3/4 drop...did it on my '54...same concept though for 57-60.

Amazes me, that for a low production vehicle, there are so many panels left. I have saved two from a similar fate.

 

We have already flipped the axle, so doing Sid's idea on the rear leaf isn't gonna happen right now unfortunately.

It looks like a very well kept rust free Okie truck. Power? What'd you do on the front to ger er down in the weeds?

Thanks. It really is a very straight and virtually rust free truck. One very small rust spot on the inside Of one cab corner. That's it !! No other rust.
I did a 3 inch dropped axle from Sid. Removed one small leaf. May do another. Depends on if it settles a little more.

 

It's lookin pretty good. More to do. Did get the bumper tucked in 2.5 inches

That'd look great with the front bumper tucked a bit towards the fender. Always liked that custom touch.

Bumper looks a Hell of a lot better that way. Should been like that from the factory.

Anymore info on what that truck was used for or what the bed is off of?

 

The truck came from oklahoma.The bed is a utility box that has been sectioned.Not sure how long the box and truck have been together.

 

I've been working on my 59 for a few months now. Bought it mostly like this but I don't know the original builder. If anyone has any info on it, please let me know.

 

Where can I find front cab corners? Search ios coming up empty.

 

You will need to find a donor cab, they don't repro the front ones.

 

Gotcha, figured that after hours of research. Wonder how different the 61+ front corners are? A guy on FTE was going to see if they work, it got me thinking as well. I just don't have one available to measure.

 

61 is different. I have been having great luck with finding 2 ton truck donor cabs. If you look at my crewcab, you can see that there is a lot less work in splicing a whole cab, verses putting in patch panels. Just finished another 59 2 ton front half, and a 60 big back window cab. After the cabs are loose, cut the windshield post, splice the floor. About two hours welding time.

What does the AC unit look like? Is it a factory option?

 

it was def an aftermarket add on from the previous owner. Said it was around 3k for parts and labor. Just a small unit under the middle of the dash. Two vents or i can switch it to the top dash vent. Blows nice and cold but she needs some insulation to keep the cold in better. Dynamat or the equivalent is next on the list!
