Just finished and sold a 60 El Camino.....Felt this would be a good time to revisit my childhood, picked up a 59 Chevy Wagon. Growning up we had one from 1960 till the early 70's till my mom made Dad sell it cause it was dropping property values!! Memories of unsecured sliding around the back section and reading comic books on trips to the beach. This one certainly has more punch than the 6cylinder we had....A 350 w/ Turbo 400 trans.... new floor pans front and back....tubular front end with power disc brakes and modern power steering. When finished this should be fun!!
That’s one of my favorite wagons other than the Vista Cruiser. Good Luck! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Solid! Cody Walls really raised the bar with his well documented build. Here's the link, in case you missed it: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/59-chevy-wagon-in-progress.458755/
Hello, Credit where credit is due... @BS409, your build was/is outstanding and right on point, too. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1959-kingswood-build.1092639/#post-12416235 All of the Chevy wagon threads hit home to a lot of people. They were popular wagons to have at the time. My wife remembers all of those trudging days of being dragged to "family," forced vacations at the Salton Sea, because of the whims of her controlling dad. But, the three kids in the back seat were in a world of their own fun with all of that space inside. Was it fun? Sometimes, yes, but other times is was a chore that was not pleasant, as the teen years came knocking.
