Wow...nice progress...most guys would have walked away from that cab (in CA at least) Nice save! Subscribed!!
Yes, Great work. I just found a 60 with the same problem but only on the passenger side. Just curious as to how much the roof pieces were from pick n pull?
nicely done. i am a little confused about why you didn't just replace the whole roof in one piece. but it gives you good welding practice... i love the fridges. owning one is on my short list for sure.
They had no idea what to charge, as it wasn't in their computer catalog! So i ended up paying around 80 bucks i think for the roof pieces..
I wasn't thinking while i was at the wrecking yard..All i thought was to get the pieces that were toast on mine.. duhh this would have been SO much neater and smoother if i replaced the whole damn top..im kicking myself.
damn.... never seen roof rot like that.. I had a '60 that needed cab corners, rockers, floors, etc.. just swapped out cabs with a nice solid one from an F600 (old farm truck that never saw road salt!).. Woulda done the same thing there.. but good job! Love these trucks wish I still had mine..
Haven't had time to post lately. Got it all in a few days ago. . Stripped roof, getting ready to paint. not very good pics, but here..
really great job! you have talent and simply putting a entire roof on wouldn't have been big enough challenge. any job involving patch panel sucks in my book but great save on the cab so far!
+3 on that! MadMav.. Great work! Like others have said most people dont have the dedication and motovation to do what your doing to that truck.
Didn't quite get why the roof wasn't replaced as whole either but if I was doing it I probably would have cut just the peaces i need too and realized later I made it hard on my self!
What did you use to flush your tank? I had mine done at a radiator shop, probably a lot cheaper to do it yourself.
Looks good. When you get around to doing the dash if you don't want to keep the idiot lights, get an instrument panel from an early 60's Econoline that has real gauges and put them in you gauge panel. I think some of the big trucks 57-60 had gauges instead of idiot lights, and some also had a tach.
The truck is looking great! I need to do the same with my truck. I have a 60 custom bed and the roof is pretty bad on the passenger side. Keep the pics comin on this build.
Man I remember my truck at those stages..... Nice work on the roof, and the rest. It is a fun build. I put the early hood on mine. Keep the skinnies on the front if you are keeping the manual steering. Mine had 8.5's on the front and the 312, It was hard to steer in tight places. The original steering wheel helps too.
