1959 Impala What do you think I should do with it?

Kool, I thought pretty hard about buying it myself when I saw it on Kijiji. Looked plenty saveable to me! Have fun!

 

Man I wish I was closer...I've got a crazy idea for this car, or one like it. I remember back in the early sixties in Wichita Kansas, this guy down the street took a 59 and made a one seater out of a two seater. It was the coolest thing you ever saw. It was done right, beautiful Covette red paint job, Chrome 5 spoke Crager SSs, narrow in front/wide in back, complete red and white interior. The car would jerk the front tires off with the bad*** engine it was packing and 4 speed stick.

I think this was a craze that was the result of the temporary histaria generated by the g***er societies. Anyway, does anyone else remember these types of customs from the time period around late 50s thru mid 60s? It's a wild shot but maybe someone in Wichita remembers this car. The guy lived on the side of town going to Goddard in a small suburb there. Forgive me of my poor geography but it's only been about 40 years, or so, ago. The good old times.

After chopping my '53, welding on a new roof seems like a piece of cake. Love the car, got a sport coupe m'self. DON'T CHOP IT! It would be a logistical nightmare of biblical proportions. The car looks like it was originally copper, a great color to go back to. And lose the red seat covers and carpet. You've got a great car to save. Even though it's a multi-door, the fact that it's an Impala (as opposed to a biscayne) rates high on the "cl***-o-meter"

 

Cut the roof off of it.....take off the front doors...shorten the whole thing up and make into a one seated roadster!!

 

Fix it and drive the hell out of it!!!!!

 

?? You could buy an Impala 4dr flat top or a 6-window 4dr sedan. I looked at a 6-window about 15 years ago.
