Hey all.....I am currently restoring a 2DR Pontiac Star Chief and randomly I found a 4DR rotting away in the woods near where I live. Long story short I got the 4DR as a parts car...mostly it is just good for the trim etc....but I found an emblem on the trunk of the 4DR that was not on the 2DR....I have done some digging and it is close to the door emblem that came on a Bonneville but is about 20 inches long and has a casting # of 532539. Basically I am just curious if this was an extra that came on the 4DR and not the two...or if it came on late year models etc etc....so any help would be great. I've tried to attach a picture of it hopefully it works.....

It could have been part of a different trim level such as Catalina or Ventura.

According to the part number, that piece of trim was used only on the Star Chief in 1959, but I don't know if it was limited to four door cars - my part number source just says Series 24, which was the Star Chief. There were actually three body styles for the Star Chief that year - a two door sedan, a four door sedan, and a four door Vista hardtop.

I looked for photos of Star Chiefs online and saw that trim on a four door, but didn't find it on the first couple two door cars I found. Then again, I didn't do an exhaustive search.

ok profile and intro done...thanks for the warning....the four door that I pulled it off from was a star chief as well so it was not a trim level deal.....

I am suspecting that it is a late year addition (I will have a better idea when I get the four door back to the house and start tearing)...I did some image searches and found it on the trunks of both two and four doors so who knows.....(of course you have to take into consideration I also found pictures of the emblem with the point up and down so it could be people just adding chrome)

Regardless thanks...I think I am going to leave the trunk of mine clean....the car already has more chrome then necessary....
