Getting ready to start on my Invicta and want to do away with torque tube, is there a center section that will bolt in the housing? or a whole rear that would fit, any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks!
No idea, but why post here? I would not have thought this is non-period question, so a better place for this question would be on the main HAMB forum, you'd get a better response.
We removed the torque tube from a 58. Used gm truck style trailing arms with a 9 inch ford The torque tube is a structural part of the suspension. Or at least it was with the 58
I have heard the original seal retainer can be changed and a regular yoke can be used with the original rear and a torque rod added
You need to do more than just swap an open drive center. The torque tube is what helps locate the rearend and control rearend torque reaction. That's why several previous replies mention using torque arms or four link. You will have to do fabrication. There is no simple bolt in swap.
