1960 chevy truck 5 lug conversion

    just picked up a pretty nice 60 chevy truck. i am going to put tbi and a 700r4 in it. i was wondering what i have need to upgrade to 5 lug. i want front discs. i think 73 and later chev truck stuff will work. any help would be great.

    Well, there are a couple of different ways but '60 and '61 (maybe '62 as well) had a torsion bar front end and the frames are completely different in the front area. I know '63 to '72, you can bolt the whole front crossmember on, from a '73-'87 and only need to drill a few extra holes or you can just bolt on the A-arms, spindles and brakes for a much easier swap. Again, with your torsion bar frame, the frame is narrower and these tricks don't work.

    If you want to keep the '60 front suspension but move to disc brakes, there are a number of companies who make kits. They are a little more exspensive for these first years, due to the suspension differences. You can even keep the 6 lug pattern if you want.
