Hot Rods 1960 Des Moines Drag Strip pics

My wife’s family is from Ames, Iowa. Her uncles were out to Tucson this last weekend to visit and one brought out a small album of B-W pics of some cars and engines. Just thought I’d share. The 46 Ford pic is his old car from that year. Sorry they are posted sideways. I had to use my phone on the dining room table to get them.

Super cool. Born and raised in Des Moines. Always remember a guy I'd run into all the time who was always wearing a "remember the des moines dragway" shirt or something like that.

I was in Des Moines this past weekend for the High Performance swap meet. Roomed in Ames with my brother while I went to trade school. I`ll post a couple Des Moines Dragway throphies later I acquired awhile back.

Sorry. I had to take them with my phone and turn my camera sideways to frame them. Here is the trophy my wife’s dad won at DesMoines Dragway. He ran a 57Chevy convertible. It sits in our living room now that he has p***ed. I’ll get pics of the 57 soon. Wish we had it

 

Had me going with what I thought was a radial engine.
