Hey 56, I just looked but unfortunately I don't have any photos from when I removed it. You will definitely need an exteral cooler if you remove it. I bought a new radiator that had a cooler in it. 4 row, original style from a radiator shop for about $450.

Here are a few pics of the original trans with the cooler that I want to use on the newer motor I got.

What is the line for that I am pointing at?

What is this trans and how are the cooler lines supposed to be hooked up? I was just going to swap the hard lines and what not off the old motor and on to the new motor along with this trans.

Thats the same thing I pulled off my ford-a-matic, which looks just like your ******. I think the line your pointing at is your breather.

Here is a pick of my rebuilt ford-a-matic going back in. You can see the breather coming out of the top. Yours looks like its just been pulled down. I'd say you have a fordamatic.

This is the trans that came with the newer motor. What is it? Its definately not like the other trans that was on the truck.

I was told this is an air cooled ford o matic but arent they supposed to have a scoop on the drivers side? Or is that just for p***enger cars?

I have two different trans and not sure which to go with and how the cooler on one hooks up. Also if the splines are the same? I dont wwant to go with a different driveshaft or radiator.

Don't know, but that second ****** appears to have different mounts, so maybe it is p***enger car. I'd ask over at fordbarn if you haven't already.

The cooler looks like it is already hooked up on that ******, just clean everything up and run new hoses to the connections on the block. Seems the easiest route to go to me.

If it was me, I'd adapt a newer ford ****** or a t350 and buy a new radiator with a ****** cooler. Unless you're really going for an older feel, fordamatics are ****. I got a good deal on getting mine rebuilt ($600), and I still feel like I should have just put a t350 in there. The fordamatic limits you and rebuilds are pricy.

Can anyone tell me what ****** is in the first picture with the side mounted "cooler" I was also told on another forum its a warmer? Im now totally confused on this and just want to know if I have a ford o matic or cruis o matic and if its ok to run the side mounted thing? If so where does the long hose go thats in the pic?

Did you find any numbers stamped into the trans? Those hoses run to the engine block.

    Few more pics

This picture is a hard line coming from a fitting right under the top bolt that bolts trans to bellhousing on p***enger side.

    Here is the cooler
    [IMG]

Here is a pic of the bellhusing with the mounting ears to prove its for a truck
    [IMG]

That yellowish colored hardline thats going into the p***enger front side of the motor is coming from the cooler
    [IMG]

    The drivers side cooler line
    [IMG]

    Drivers side
    [IMG]

This hardline goes into the housing of the trans right above the bottom bolt for the trans into the bellhousing on drivers side. It comes upto the motor on a bracket but doesnt hook up to anything.

Same hard line as pic above. Right before shifting arms

Finally! Last night I seperated the old motor from old trans that I will be using. The water cooler lines for the trans to motor block and fittings are in great shape. The cooler on the trans has a bunch of thick sludge in it. How can I go about cleaning that out?

This is the cooler on the trans. The in or outlet that has the rubber hose still on it...Where does it go? To ewater pump or intake?
The hose come off of the cooler and onto the ground is what im talking about
