Ok finally some updates! I got some motivation and removed the complte steering column, box and pit man arm from the truck so that i can remove the old cab. Before I removed it all I noticed that I could turn the wheel about a quarter of the ways without the wheels turning. Would that be the box being bad? Or the steering needing to be rebuilt?

The spring in my hand in the pic had fell off the column when I pulled it out of the truck. I know its for the wheel so it should just slide right back onto the steering shaft under the wheel correct?

There's a screw located on the steering box that you can tighten up a bit, but don't go crazy on it, just a couple of 1/2 turns till it doesnt have so much play. you may need a rebuild though.

You can tear it apart pretty easy and check out the sector and shaft gears... mine looked like they had tied off the wheel and drug the truck and it stripped some of the gears. I got another box. Like Jaybird60 said, there is a flathead screw on the side with a star washer. that's the adjuster.

Thanks chad! Well I guess I will just make it easier for myself and either have mine rebuilt or find a rebuilt box.

The choke and vents all have nuts on the back side of the dash and the vent cables hook behind the vent flaps with a clamp and phillips screw

Thanks Bert!! Everything is out along with the wiring. Now I need to pull the old cab and put the new one on. I'm still torn on what harness to buy. I want a not so pricey one

When the "new to me" cab and bed first arrived, the cab was sitting inside of the bed. So I had some time and motivation last night so I went ahead and took the cab out of the bed and cleaned them out. Also started taking all the unwanted parts off.

So... I'm thinking of camaro clipping my 57 and dropping a 60 front clip on it, flipping the rear axle and selling it. It's a stepside, wonder if it'd look cool?
