I am wondering if anyone knows if a 1963 ford f100 steering box is the same as a 1960 f100 box?

the early one has the pitman shaft sticking out the side, the later one it sticks out the bottom. Quite different.

No. Pitman arm comes out of the side of the frame on both. They look the same but the rebuild kits on rock auto are different part numbers. Thanks though.

I guess that pic I looked at of a Ford parts book page showing a 63 box with the shaft pointing down, was wrong. Sorry about that.

how about these? they look quite different, as if the later box is a recirculating ball type. So, I would expect the rebuilt kit to be quite different.

  5. Steering boxes are so easy to rebuild it's almost funny. I just redid the box in my 59 F100. Pop yours apart, see what all is needed to be replaced and replace it. Shim it and then put it together and adjust it. Find a book if needed.
