Showroom new the 144 was supposed to be capable of 90bhp, probably with the peanut 3 speed. The 2spd falconmatic ate up any spare horsemeat, but they still managed to scoot pretty well. I prefer the 200/c4 myself; just more durable and slightly more powerful, as well as easier to keep running well (no loadamatic distributor/carb).

No, not that one. It at a guys house somewhere Between Muskogee and Broken Bow. Can’t remember exactly where, I took that pic , probably six years ago. He has a ton of old Ford parts and cars. He actually did the work himself. Just cut and brazed pads along the intake rail. Then added carbs! According to him it would really run….but it wasn’t running when it took that pic.

I going to have say the 200 is “way” more powerful than the old 144! When I replaced my 144 , in my 1960 van, with a 200…..it felt like twice the horsepower! It would pull that van full of motcross bikes eighty mph with ease!

    Hi Gimpy
Where are the cracks in the doors? I owned a 4-door 144 sedan one of these and don't ever remember door cracks (mind you it only had 60,000 miles on it at the end). I do remember thinking the doors were ****** thick and heavy compared to the Mark II Zephyr I had, especially when the driver's one closed on my shin after its spring broke!

There is a brace between the inner and outer skin, just a head of the division bar for the vent window.

They tend to fatigue crack there.
