Priority#1 is to get rid of all the rust. My goal is a early 60's, Alexander brothers type car. Roof scoop, shaved handles, air ride, disc brakes, www with chrome mags, bucket seats, floating console, voodoo shifter, aqua blue with pearl scallops, clear plastic ribs on tail lights, move head lights closer together, 59 Ford grille?, Bamboo and Hawaiian interior and trunk. Filled hood emblem is the only kustom thing we've done so far. I had 3x2s on it before we started body work but that was a disaster.
When I was a young dude I was not found of 60 Olds and Pontiac, but I love them today. Great style that's long gone now. Great car, keep us posted on your progress.
I think the 60 poncho was about the best looking car the general ever made. But I'm a sucker for any 59-60 bubble top.
got a 60 Olds (dynamic 88) Jetaway transmission for sale. Is your engine a 371 or 394? I have some parts for 371.
Always loved the 1960 Oldsmobile's.....that front windshield was so iconic....adding the long, low and ''smoooooth'' lines of the design....just a fine looking car in my opinion! I am not all that fond of 'murals' per se' paint jobs....but that bluish-teal-pearl color would look fantastic as a solid color as posted above....it's gonna be a cool driver to be sure!
I'm mainly needing some trim and interior stuff. Got any hi perf engine stuff? Sent from my MotoG3 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I totally agree....I remember seeing all the vans in the mid 1970's striving for a different kind of mural, and although I wasn't a 'van guy' ...the paint schemes still remind me of them, because there were so many vans on the streets which had mural designs that I remember. Your car would look fantastic with a nice paint choice...maybe a subtle two-tone even, that would show off the fine lines of the cars design...my opinion of course, but I think the 1960 Olds is a pretty classy car on it's own merits....I'll be lookin' forward to see what ya' do with your car!...have fun man!
You don't think I should airbrush a naked chick riding a fire breathing dragon on each side? Sent from my MotoG3 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
HAHAHA....um, .....not exactly what I was picturing in my mind!....almost choked on my coffee on that one!
They are not "bubble tops" they are only available top. Consider a 60 Mercury grille. No photo but il bet someone here can come up with on on an Olds...good luck.
Jesse... These are great "one-year-only" body styles that look cool right out of Detroit ! Sounds like you've got the right ideas all-the-way-through. Take your time do it the way you want, and drive the wheels off of it when you're finished. Jonnie www.legends.thewwbc.net
That's what is great about the 59-60 GM cars. They already look chopped sectioned and lowered. Good for us guys who are not that great of craftsman. I m having trouble figuring out some custom body mods so it doesn't look stock but not gaudy. Sent from my MotoG3 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I consider every GM 2 door HT from 59-61 a bubble top plus 62 bel air 409. Sent from my MotoG3 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
