Hot Rods 1960's Vintage Dragster Find

Bad ass thread. Congrats on getting the car out there for all to see.

 

Been meaning to post a little update on the Thumpers Comp Coupe, i am now the caretaker of this bad ass car, since the first posting of the car i fell in love, Mike sold it to Moe Peterson he had it for a few years changed a few things raced it a little, last fall he called me and mentioned he was gonna sell it, it was financially bad timing for me but i had to have it, so i sold some coveted goodies and drive down to Moes and picked it up, i found a little more history and info on it but not a ton, ill post a couple videos of it also.

this is a screen shot from another Mn dragways documentary not sure who made it....

and this pic at Mn dragways in 1963 running a buick nailhead, i believe the car was possibly owned by Carl Pramel, Carl was a torquers member and shortly after this built a newer Comp coupe that was also nailhead powered, im assuming the motor came out of this car and went into his and then it was sold minus the motor and thats when it got the SBC
here is the current condition, Moe went thru the chassis, added a few more tubes and painted it all and polished the chrome and went thru the motor again. i do plan to put the original steel wheels back up up front and put a man a fre back on it.

In doing some more research i figured out that Bill Davis had owned the car from 1968 ish up until it was found at the start of this post, Bill was also a Thumpers member

i found this pic in his Obituary video.
i also brought the car down to another thumpers reunion

got a few good pics of all the guys with the, they were all so happy to see it, and i got to hear a ton of stories about it!
