YOU are a mind reader!!! I totally agree, while what I am submitting isn't an invicta, it is a LeSabre. This car does NOT exist, a friend of mine found a red one, knew it matched real close to what we wanted to do with ours, and "computer" painted my choice of colors. Mike thought it was "too pink" he wanted Chrome yellow, somewhere I have a picture of the car in yellow, but darn it all I can't find it. Anywho the cars are gone now, but I have kept this picture.

the 61 Dodge would be my favorite... but I'm biased. I like the idea of the Plymouth sheetmetal on the Dodge. gonna have to find me one of those.

as for the crossram cars... they were not particularly fast. there was a road test in HOT ROD with a 2 door post car with the crossram. I don't recall what trans or gears it had but it only went 15 something as I recall.

gears and slicks would have helped.

Yup, I do like that crazy, everywhichway styling on that Dodge. Maybe when it first came out it looked ridiculous, but now I think it looks pretty damn stylish. And that 62...couldn't agree woth you more.

I'm partial to just about any GM 61 car but the Chevy does pretty good. The Buick and Olds bubbletops are also ***y cars, but the best 61 in my book is the Coupe DeVille.

English Ford, Consul Capri, built from 61-64, rare as hen's teeth. The green one's customised, obviously.

The Impala was the ugly (CHEAP) car from GM in '61, the other offerings were much cleaner, more STYLE......with the Olds the best of the bunch.:D

When we had our 61 Buick, Son wanted one of these, said it was the "backwards" version of ours. Check it out, he is right! The 61 Buick had pointed front fenders, the 61 Olds had pointed rear fenders, with the flat part also on oppisite ends. LOL.

Yeah, but the Buick is the "backwards" car....haha
A freind has a '61 Buick HT, neat car. Interiors are similar as well between the Olds and Buick.
I'm always looking for another '61 Olds.

Yeah, but the only PROBLEM is the floor on the 61 Buick is FLAT!! Thus the problem Mike had, because it meant that he was going to have to make and weld the floor in, aaaaah, lets just say welding isn't exactly Mike's strong point? This is one of the reasons he decided it best that the car go to someone who knows a lot more than he does about "fixing" floorboards. A customizer out of Minnesota bought the car. NO body makes after market floorboards for a 61 Buick! We found that out the hard way!

Now, as for the "backwards" thang? If Buick is so 'backward" how come the points are in the front, and Olds's are on the back? LOL Just teasing.

What Sinister said, The '61 Olds was the best design of a decade.
The Buick was close except the tail lights look like an afterthought.

And the Stude was the best looking car made in '54 but with all the bolt-on fins & **** it by '61 it became a joke of what it once was.

And why does that pictured Dodge have a Plymouth front end on it?
Is it a Canadian version maybe?
I sorta found my answer: http://www.moparts.org/moparts/picture/oldweb/Garlick.html

I like a '61 Sport Fury by the way....

I'm a Ford guy, but voted for the Stude, 'cause of the coolness factor. If it was a 1960 survey, I'd have to go with the Square Bird.

that's because there isn't a Valiant of the same year parked next to it. saw one cruising down the freeway during commute hours the other morning.

here's my 61 Dodge Dart Seneca.

I love to tease, but I am going to agree on one thing Olds and Buick had the styling, hands down, I just have a hard time telling you which is best because ya just can't beat cool, and these two are precisely that COOL!

Both have those great deep V rocket ship steering wheels, both have extremely unthought of dash features, the 61 Buick's speedometer is a mirror!!! the speedometer is actually on the flat part (put your hand on the bottom part under the speedometer and you will find I am not lying), what you are seeing is a reflection of that speedometer in a mirror, we discovered THAT when Mike took the dash out to have the dash pad recovered. I don't know if Olds did that as well, but we thought that quite unique. Yup both these 61s are the greatest!!!
